RICK OWENS

In partnership with Rick Owens, Barneys New York replicated the designer’s show, “Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman”, originally on display at the Trienelle di Milano in Milan, Italy. The exhibition celebrated Owen’s career and evolution as an artist and featured land art installations, pieces from his fashion archives, film, graphics, and more. A recreation of the designer’s “Earth Work” sculpture took over each of Barneys New York’s Madison Avenue windows. A simulated “Mud Room” filled the interior of the Downtown window while video screens played archival runway videos.

As project manager and liaison between the Rick Owens Paris team and our New York team, I presented multiple renderings and mock-ups for approvals and worked with both our in-house production team as well as outside vendors to replicate various elements including the “Earth Work” sculpture, furniture, and architecture as seen in the original exhibit. We worked with a global shipping vendor to safely transport the archival pieces from and back to Milan and partnered with local vendors familiar with the work to stylize keys elements including garments and wigs. Additionally, we designed and created custom exhibition maps for visitors to use during the exhibit.
